Content types

Name Description
Service landing page Top level section page for each service. This page acts as a homepage for each service area.
Service sub-landing page Pages for detail and links to specific pages within a service. A place to group related pages. Think of these pages as chapters of a book, giving the user option to browse everything in that section.
Service page

Basic page that can be placed in a service and on a service sub landing page. These are the most commonly used type of page and are useful if you’re creating content that is relatively brief, addresses one user need or links out to another site/page.

If the page requires more guidance or information you will need to consider using either guide pages or step by step pages (see below).

Guide

Guide pages are useful when you want to group together a collection of connected pages, where there's no set process to be followed.

They are useful if you want to give someone a range of information on one subject. The user can use the 'Next' button to move through the guide.

Step by step

Step by step pages are useful where the user has to follow a process, for example, applying or registering for something.

Avoid having too much copy on step by step landing pages, as it pushes the steps further down the page making them hard to find, especially on mobile devices.

Directory channel

Main directory landing page.

Directories provide a way to present content as a list which can be searched and filtered by your users. This is helpful when there is a large volume of variations or for services that can be attributed to certain needs or geographical areas.

Directory page or venue A simple directory entry. This is where the individual content for that specific item is displayed. Where a venue is chosen it will contain location specific information.
Event An event to appear in the events listing and optionally integrate into a directory.
News article A stand-alone news article that may also appear in a news listing page.
Newsroom A page for listing and featuring news articles.

Components

Name Description
Call-outs/Alerts

There are different alerts and banners that can be added to a page to alert users to something or provide time-specific information.

Editors should refer to training materials for when to use these and what style to use.

Alert banners Alert banners are a good way of sharing urgent information across your whole site, or a selection of pages.
Contact details

When displaying contact details you will need to determine if they should be inserted:

  • Inline (details appear when they are needed around a task)
  • Using contact component (at the bottom of the page)

Limit contact information to service name, email address, telephone number and postal address.
