Independence at home is not the same as reablement, but it includes reablement as part of the service.
Independence at Home is a short-term care and reablement service for adults in Staffordshire. It helps you recover after illness or a hospital stay, stay safe and independent at home, and reduce the need for long-term care or hospital admission.
Our aim is simple: to give you choice and support so you can live well at home for as long as possible.
What happens next
If you are referred to Independence at Home:
- We will look at your care and support needs.
- You’ll get short-term care at home based on your care plan.
- We’ll help you regain independence by supporting you to do as much as possible for yourself.
- We’ll work with occupational therapists to identify any aids or equipment that could make life easier.
- We’ll plan with you and your family for what happens after the service ends.
The service usually lasts up to six weeks. It is designed to be temporary while you recover and regain confidence.
Costs
Independence at Home is provided by Staffordshire County Council and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
There is no charge for this short-term reablement service.
If you need ongoing care after this service ends, we will talk to you about options and any costs involved.
