Support with care costs
How to find out if you can get help
- You’ll need a care and support assessment to check if you have eligible needs.
- If you qualify for care, we’ll ask you to complete a financial assessment to see what you can afford.
- You can use our financial eligibility checker for a quick idea of what you might pay (it’s only a guide).
If you pay for all your care (self‑funders)
You are a self‑funder if:
- You have over £23,250 in savings, or
- You choose not to share your financial details.
Even if you pay the full cost, we can:
- Give advice about your options.
- Help you make a care and support plan.
- Arrange care at home (there is a set‑up fee and weekly admin charge).
If you get some help with costs
If you qualify for some support, we will:
- Work with you to create a care and support plan.
- Give you a personal budget (the amount allocated for your care).
Disability‑related expenses (DRE)
If you get disability benefits and have extra costs because of your disability, we allow for this in your assessment. Standard allowances are £10, £15 or £25 a week, depending on your benefit level. If your actual costs are higher, you can ask for a personalised allowance.
