Report abuse of an adult

Report abuse of an adult, find out when to call the police, and learn how to contact us for urgent or non‑urgent concerns.

Last updated: 14th November

If you think an adult with care and support needs is being abused or is at risk, tell us straight away.
Do not assume someone else will report it. If you have seen or heard something, please speak up.

If someone is in immediate danger or a crime has happened, call 999.

Important note

Safeguarding adults under Section 42 of the Care Act (2014) does not cover suicidal thoughts or self-harm.
If you are worried about an adult at risk because of their mental health, please contact their GP or the right mental health service.
