When to register
A stillbirth must be registered within 42 days of the birth.

Booking an appointment
Registration is free, but you will need to pay for any additional certificates.

We will discuss the details with you when you get in touch, and take your wellbeing into account.
What to bring to your appointment
Please bring the following information and documents:
- Medical certificate issued by your midwife or doctor
- Date and place of birth of the baby
- Sex of the baby
- Baby’s name and surname (if you wish to name the baby)
- Your full names, places of birth, and occupations
- Mother’s maiden name
What you will receive
After the appointment, the registrar will issue:
- A certificate of registration
- A stillbirth certificate
- A certificate for burial or cremation
