Community safety priorities and partnerships

Priorities and partners for community safety

Last updated: 27th November

We want everyone in Staffordshire to feel safe where they live, work and go to school.

Community safety means stopping crime and helping people feel safe. We work with the police, fire service, health teams and local groups to make this happen.

What we do

We help with:

  • Anti-social behaviour – stopping things like vandalism or loud noise
  • Domestic abuse – helping people who are hurt or scared at home
  • Hate crime – stopping bullying or attacks because of someone’s race, religion or identity
  • Modern slavery – protecting people who are being forced to work or live in bad conditions
  • Road safety – making roads safer for drivers, cyclists and walkers
  • Child exploitation – keeping children safe from people who might try to harm or trick them
  • Consumer protection – making sure shops and businesses follow the rules

Working together

We don’t do this alone. We work with:

  • The police
  • Fire and rescue teams
  • Health services
  • Local councils
  • Community groups

Together, we make plans to stop crime and help people feel safe.

Partnerships

In Staffordshire, we have special teams called Community Safety Partnerships. These teams help make sure people feel safe where they live.

There are 8 partnerships—one for each district and borough in Staffordshire. Each team includes people from:

  • The police
  • Local councils
  • Fire and rescue services
  • Health services
  • Probation services

These groups are called the responsible authorities. They work together to stop crime and help people stay safe.

What do they do?

Each partnership looks at what their local area needs. They make plans to:

  • Stop anti-social behaviour
  • Help people with drug or alcohol problems
  • Support people who have been in trouble before so they don’t re-offend
