What is domestic abuse
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 has created a statutory definition of domestic abuse.
Abuse can be:
- Physical (hitting or hurting)
- Emotional (shouting, bullying, or threats)
- Controlling (telling someone what they can or can’t do)
- Financial (taking or controlling money)
- Sexual (forcing someone to do things they don’t want to)
It can happen to anyone, no matter their age, gender, or background.
