What is a hate crime?
A hate crime is when someone is hurt, bullied, or treated unfairly because of:
- Their race
- Their religion
- A disability
- Their sexual orientation
- Their gender identity (for example, if they are transgender)
This can include name-calling, threats, damage to property, or physical attacks.
