Open Door is a work placement scheme for people in Staffordshire who are looking for a job. It gives you the chance to get real work experience and learn new skills.
What is it?
Open Door offers unpaid work placements with:
- Staffordshire County Council
- Local businesses and organisations
You’ll be treated like a team member and get support from a mentor.
Why join?

Who can apply?
You must:
- Be 18 or older
- Live in Staffordshire
- Be actively looking for work
If you need work experience for school or university, contact your course provider instead.
How long is the placement?
- Placements last 12 weeks
- Hours are flexible to suit you and the employer
- You may be able to extend your placement for another 12 weeks
There’s no guarantee of a job at the end, but you’ll leave with valuable experience and a reference.
