Wildlife and biodiversity

Biodiversity is vital to our wellbeing and key to the quality of life in Staffordshire. A healthy environment is also central to the economic prosperity and the county's desirability as a place to live, work and visit.

Biodiversity survey and assessment

Planning applications must consider the impact on nature. If a development could affect protected sites, species, priority habitats or important land features, the person applying must provide survey information. This helps show how the development might affect the environment and what can be done to reduce harm.
