Application conditions - Skips and building materials on the highway
Summary of Conditions
If your application for a permit is approved, it will be issued to you and recorded on a central register which will be published.
You must adhere to the following conditions for your permit to be issued:
- Ensure the permit is received before the item is placed on the highway
- Indemnify Staffordshire County Council against any liability, loss, claim or proceedings arising from the item or its placement
- Repair any damage caused to the highway at the permit holder’s expense
- Hold public liability insurance with minimum cover of £5 million for any one claim, with no limit on the number of claims, valid for the full permit period
- Do not place items in a way that endangers highway users or obstructs drainage, access to premises, fire hydrants, gullies, manholes, or utility apparatus
- Consider all highway users, including those with mobility or visual impairments
- Deposit and collect items only between 07:30 and 20:30 unless special conditions apply
- Failure to comply with standard conditions may result in prosecution
Note: Fees are payable at the time of application. Additional conditions may be applied beyond the standard ones.
Appeals
Any licence holder who wishes to appeal against a failed application or a condition attached to their licence should contact us. You can also appeal to your local Magistrates' court.
