Important Terms and Conditions

Course Offer and Eligibility

  • The offer of a course is at the discretion of the Police and may be withdrawn at any time.
  • You have no legal right to attend a course as an alternative to prosecution.
  • Your course must be completed within 5 months of the offence date or as stated in your letter.

Special Requirements

  • Notify Staffordshire County Council of any special needs at the time of booking (e.g. difficulty understanding English).
  • If bringing an interpreter, notify us in advance with their name and photo ID (must be 16+).
  • Hidden disabilities should be declared in the booking form or by emailing drivingcourses@staffordshire.gov.uk. These will be handled confidentially.

Attending the Course

  • You are responsible for travel, childcare, and any loss of earnings.
  • No children are allowed in the room during the course.
    • If you don’t receive confirmation within 2 days, contact us immediately.
    • Use a personal email address and check spam/junk folders regularly.

Rescheduling and Cancellations

  • Free rescheduling within 14 days of booking (unless the course is within that period).
  • Changes 5–21 days before the course: first reschedule is free.
  • Changes with less than 5 days’ notice: £25 admin fee.
  • If you miss your course, you have 48 hours to call and reschedule (admin fee applies).
  • Failure to contact us within 48 hours will result in cancellation and a partial refund of £45.
  • Illness-related absences require a doctor’s note (form MED3). Refunds or rescheduling may be subject to an admin fee.

Course Conduct

  • No test is required, but you must attend on time, participate, and show a willingness to improve.
  • Abusive, threatening, or disruptive behaviour will result in removal and referral to the Police.
  • You must not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs and must be appropriately dressed.
  • All devices except the one used for the course must be switched off.
  • Recording or photographing the course is prohibited. Do not post course content or participant details on social media.
  • Do not use blurred backgrounds—use a plain wall or similar.

Identification Requirements

  • You must present either a valid photocard licence or photo ID (passport, bus pass, NUS card, citizen card).
  • Failure to provide ID will result in non-completion and possible cancellation.
  • Violence or threats will result in prosecution and no further course offers.
  • It is an offence for someone else to attend in your place.
  • Leaving the course early will result in non-completion.

Data Protection

Your personal data will only be used for the course and retained for one year unless you request removal.

Non-Compliance

If you fail to comply with any of these terms, your course will be marked as non-completed and referred back to the Police. Your case may then proceed to court.
