Carriageway resurfacing works Poplar Lane, Cannock
Staffordshire County Council is undertaking carriageway resurfacing and associated highway improvements on the D4324 Poplar Lane in Cannock, from the junction with Hatton Road to Squirrels Rest. The scheme includes:
- Cutting back overhanging tree canopies
- Adjusting and replacing kerbs as required
- Removing and resetting carriageway ironworks
- Resurfacing the carriageway and applying new road markings

When are the works taking place?
- Minor civil works: Monday 9 March–Wednesday 18 March 2026, 7:30 am–4 pm, Monday to Friday
- Carriageway resurfacing: Thursday 19 March–Friday 27 March 2026, 24-hour road closures, Monday to Friday
How long will the works take?
The overall programme will last approximately 15 working days within the period 9–27 March 2026
Will I be able to access my home/business?
- Full road closures from the junction of Hatton Road to Church Lane during both phases.
- Minor works: daytime closures only
- Resurfacing: 24‑hour closures for safety and equipment access
- A signed diversion route will be in place and personnel will assist local access for residents.
What effect could the works have on me?
- Expect minor traffic delays during both phases.
