What happens next if my child is eligible for travel assistance?
If we agree your child can get help with travel, we’ll contact you as soon as possible to explain what support will be given.
It may take up to 20 working days after we agree before the support is in place.
Types of help
Support may be:
- a mileage payment or personal travel budget – we’ll write to you with the amount and how to claim or receive it
- a pass to use public transport
- a pass for council-arranged transport
If your child gets a travel pass, it may be valid for more than one school year. Check the expiry date and keep using it until it runs out.
The council may add or remove pupils from vehicles without speaking to parents first. This is normal practice.
