The Community Learning Service offers a wide range of free or low-cost courses for adults (primarily aged 19+) across Staffordshire.

Beginners Computers & IT - East Staffordshire

This introduction course will cover the basics of using a computer. You will be guided through a variety of computer functions including using emails effectively, how to stay safe online, understanding internet banking and shopping safely online.

Get Work Ready NeuroDiversity

The course is designed to help you to build your skills in applying for work, and describe your transferrable skills towards future work. You will be shown & taught how to help yourself in the workplace, asking for changes to suit your needs.

Calm, confidence and wellbeing support for families. Using the principles behind Forest Bathing, families are guided through ideas to help alleviate stress and anxiety, particularly relevant during exam season and school transitions.

More Office Skills

Have you used office in past jobs or for work or study? Have you had basic use of word processing and formatting as well as presentation software and spreadsheets? This course will allow you to refresh and apply these skills to a range of scenarios to help you develop and share across packages. You will develop a Presentation, Posters and Spreadsheets refreshing and building upon the knowledge you have and filling in gaps in terminology and building confidence to explore further.

Exploring Smart Phones

Want to know how to use your smart phone? Explore apps and settings. Learn how to set Alarms, schedule appointments, add contacts, organise your phone, search the internet and communicate using WhatsApp or email. Learn how your phone can help you for work and everyday life.

Digital Internet Skills

Have some very basic knowledge but need a refresher on using your device or the Internet. This course will explore filling out online forms, downloading and uploading files such as pictures, PDFs and Menus, Sharing files and attaching to emails as well as saving to folders and drives. Explore apps and settings and searching online for Information, Price comparisons, Maps, Shopping and Public Services all with safety, privacy and protection in mind.

Digital Office Skills

Unsure about Office Programs? Need to explore the basics of Formatting and editing in a Word processor, Create a simple Presentation (Slideshow) with some animations, explore creating a spreadsheet and using basic formulas? This course will explore the above as well as how to organise as well as saving to folders, file management and creating and organising files and folders with an explanation of the Cloud Storage and costs.
