Framework aim

This content framework aims to ensure that all content published on our external websites adheres to the Council's brand guidelines, content standards, and GDS content guidelines.

Our content editors must have an understanding of these standards as content will not be published that does not meet them.

It sets clear expectations for content editors and the digital team, emphasising the importance of consistent, good-quality content.

This framework is closely linked to the customer experience strategy, helping us to get it right first time for our customers and build trust and confidence in our digital services.

Getting started

All of our content seeks to achieve something, and we’re clear from the start what user needs and organisational goals it serves. The Government Digital Service (GDS) standard underpins our web standards and all that we do. The GDS standard is a set of principles and guidelines that all government services must meet.

Web standards help us meet accessibility, usability and technical requirements. They also ensure we follow our house style and any legal or policy obligations.

Our content editors should ensure they understand and have followed our Content design principles before creating any new webpage content.

See our Content guidelines for help with creating webpages for our public website, subsites and microsites.
