Who can get it and how to apply
You may be able to get respite care if you care for someone regularly and need a break. The person you care for must live in Staffordshire and have eligible care needs under the Care Act.
If you care for someone often, you have the right to a carer’s assessment. This looks at your needs, including your need for a break. The assessment can be carried out at the same time as the person you care for, or separately.
How to apply:
The first step is to contact Staffordshire Cares:
- Phone: 0300 111 8010
- Email: staffordshirecares@staffordshire.gov.uk
What happens next?
- Ask for a carer’s assessment.
- Your social care worker will help you agree a plan for the type of respite care that works best for you.
- If you are eligible, they will also discuss financial help.
