Responsibility
If you live in an area at risk of flooding, it’s your responsibility to protect your property.
You can find flood emergency preparation advice on the Staffordshire Prepared and Environment Agency websites.
The Environment Agency works hard to warn people about flood risks. We support their approach and encourage you to follow their advice. You can view the number of active flood warnings through the Environment Agency's website.
You can find tips on how to prepare your home for flooding on the National Flood Forum website.
More information on preparing for, responding to, and recovering from flooding can be found on our Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation (FCRIP) project ‘A FAIR (Flood: Aware, Informed, Resilient) to Community Flooding’ website here: FAIR - an FCRIP project for Staffordshire and the Black Country.
District councils may help during floods, especially with vulnerable people. They might give out sandbags depending on their policy, and set up rest centres if needed.
We help recover from major floods by working with councils and emergency services.
