Public task statement
This statement explains what the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archives Service does and what information you can use again under the Re-Use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005.
The Public Task
Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archives collects, keeps, and shares old records about Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. We also look after local and family history resources. You can find a short guide to our collections in our collections' policy and on our website.
The Archive Service works for Staffordshire County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council under a joint agreement. We follow important laws that tell us how to care for records and archives.
Information available for re-use
You can look at, copy, and re-use information we create (like catalogues, indexes, and policies) for free, as long as it is not protected by Data Protection or other agreements.
You can also see archives and books in our offices for free during opening hours. You can copy most items for personal use, but there are rules about re-use because of copyright and Data Protection. These rules are in our copying policy, which you can find on our website.
Review and complaints
This statement is due to be reviewed in November 2028. If you have any queries or complaints about the re-use of information, please submit them to staffordshire.record.office@staffordshire.gov.uk or Staffordshire County Council.
