For organisations
A badge may be issued to organisations that care for and transport disabled people who would individually meet the eligibility criteria for a blue badge.
The cost of an Organisational Blue Badge is £10 per badge.
All applications, whether first time or renewal are treated as a new application.

Organisational eligibility criteria
An organisation can apply for a Blue Badge if:
- It uses vehicles to carry disabled people who would qualify for a badge themselves (as set out in the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations 2000).
- It cares for and transports these people.
- It has a clear need for an organisational badge rather than using individual badges.
What counts as an organisation?
The law defines an organisation as one that cares for disabled people. Examples include:
- Residential care homes
- Hospices
- Local authority social services departments
Taxi firms, private hire operators and community transport providers are unlikely to qualify because they do not usually care for disabled people who meet the eligibility criteria. They can still use an individual’s Blue Badge when carrying that person as a passenger.
How we check eligibility
We may ask:
- How many disabled people you care for
- What vehicles you use and whether they are adapted
- Why you need an organisational badge instead of using individual badges
- How often and for what purpose the badge will be used
If you do not meet the criteria
If only a few people in your care qualify for a badge, they should apply for their own Blue Badge instead.
Who owns the badge?
The badge belongs to the organisation, not individual staff.
Employees must not use the badge when there are no eligible passengers in the vehicle. Misuse can lead to a fine of up to £1,000.
