Bikeability national standard cycle training
Bikeability is the government’s national cycle training programme. It helps children develop the skills and confidence to cycle safely on today’s roads.
What’s Available
Cycle training in Staffordshire schools is fully funded by Active Travel England through the Bikeability Trust, and delivered by BikeRight.
There are 16,000 training places available across three levels and supporting modules. This includes:
- Bikeability level 2 – On-road training for Year 5 or 6 pupils. Offered to every school in Staffordshire.
Additional Training Modules
Selected schools may also access Bikeability Plus modules:
- Balance – For Reception or Year 1 pupils to build confidence and prepare for level 1.
- Learn to Ride – For pupils who need support to ride unaided.
- Fix – Teaches basic bike maintenance, usually for Year 6 pupils.
These modules are limited and not available to all schools.
