What is HAF?
The Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) gives children aged 5 to 16 the chance to:
- Join fun activities
- Try new things like sports, crafts and cooking
- Enjoy a healthy hot meal
It’s free for children who get benefit-related free school meals.
How does it work?
- You’ll get a special HAF code by email or letter if your child is eligible
- You can book up to 4 free sessions during the winter holidays
- Activities are run by trusted local groups
- Most sessions include a hot meal
What kind of activities are there?
Children can enjoy:
- Arts and crafts
- Cooking
- Sports and games
- Outdoor fun
- Making new friends
Who pays for it?
The programme is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
