School place planning in Lichfield District

The Lichfield district is split into two areas:

  • Lichfield (including Fradley)
  • Burntwood

A two‑tier school system is used across the district, with:

  • Primary schools for ages 4–11
  • Secondary schools for ages 11–18

The council divides the district into smaller planning areas to help work out how many school places are needed. These areas are based on where schools are located and how pupils move between them.

Lichfield (including Fradley)

Lichfield has:

  • 19 primary schools
  • 3 secondary schools

Two Lichfield secondary schools were expanded in 2021, creating 60 extra Year 7 places each year. More primary and secondary places will be needed in the long term.
